Dr Ashok Kapoor
Dr Ashok Kapoor has done his schooling from Summerfield School in Kailash Colony, New Delhi and pre medical from Deshbandhu Gupta College, New Delhi after which he joined Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) in the year 1974. After graduating in 1979 with an MBBS degree, he went on to do a Diploma in Medical Radiotherapy (DMRT) in 1982. From 1982 to 1984 he did a MD in Radiodiagnosis from MAMC and its associated Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan Hospital and was immediately absorbed as a Sr. Resident in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). After joining Tata Main Hospital, Jamshedpur, in 1986 as an Associate Specialist, he was promoted to Sr. Specialist in 1990 and thereafter became the Head of the Department (Radiology), Tata Main Hospital on 25th May, 1992 and held that post till December, 2010 (18 years).
In 1986, he joined as a Tutor in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, became an Assistant Professor in 1989, Associate Professor in 1992 and Professor (Radiodiagnosis) in 1995 and held that post till 2010. Since 1990, he has been a member of the Pneumoconiosis Board of the Tata Group of Companies including the Uranium Corporation of India Ltd. (a Govt. Of India Undertaking). He holds a fellowship in Nuclear Resonance Imaging (NRI) from the Massachusetts General Hospital - Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Centre (MGH-NMR), Boston, USA since 1990. He also holds a fellowship in Interventional Radiology under Dr J. E. Ring at San Francisco, Los Angeles, USA since 1990. He is also a life member of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA), Indian College of Radiology and Imaging (ICRI) and Indian Medical Association (IMA).
He has had experience at an 850 bedded hospital recognized for teaching and training of undergraduate students at MGM Medical College, Postgraduate students of Ranchi University (including DMRD) and various branches of DNB (including Radiodiagnosis).
